Tarina Tarantino is now at Sephora

Tarina Tarantino is a brand that launched recently and is currently available exclusively at Sephora. I had a chance to try out the lipsticks and eye liners and they are outstanding. The eye liners are comparable to Urban Decay's 24/7 pencils or Make Up Forever's Aqua Eyes. Super smooth application, waterproof, and there is a nice selection of colors offered. The two lipsticks I tried have a smooth, light texture and semi-opaque coverage. As you can see in the photos below, the packaging is very cute, girly, PINK(!) and Barbie-esque. (The little silver plastic, crystal embellished compacts remind me of makeup I would have played with as a child.) The eyeshadows retail for $19, eye liners $17 and lipsticks $22.

Chanel Rouge Coco: Ruban Rose, Organdi Rose, and Muse

This morning I picked up a few of the much-publicized Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks at Nordstrom According to the sales associate the shade pictured on Chanel muse Vanessa Paradis below (Mademoiselle) was already sold out in that particular store.

This new formula replaces the old Hydrabase formula. The texture is great--lightweight, hydrating, but not sticky at all--it feels almost as if you're wearing lip balm. These have a pleasant rose scent to them, so if you are not a fan of scented lipsticks you might want to skip these--on the plus side, I did not detect any offensive fragrance taste. At $30 each they are a bit pricey, no doubt, but nevertheless a nice treat if your budget can handle it! Rouge Coco launched on Feb. 25th and there are currently 30 shades offered.

I chose 15 Ruban Rose (a light coral rose), 09 Organdi Rose (a cool-toned, medium rose) and 14 Muse (a medium plummy rose).

Paul & Joe Beaute

I just love Paul & Joe's packaging. Their products are not only top quality, beautiful and wearable, but miniature works of art as well. These are almost too pretty to use, but not quite -- I plan to try these out soon! These are semi-sheer and will make a nice shimmery wash for a really pretty (and quick and convenient) look.

Chantecaille Les Dauphins

I skipped Chantecaille's gorgeous La Baleine palette last April, but decided to splurge on the very cute dolphin-themed Les Dauphins palette. The shades are all pretty and very soft. The dolphins are coated with a shimmery overspray. I didn't realize until I opened it that the bottom right shade is actually a blush (I thought it was a pink eye shadow at first glance! doh). I can't wait to try this out but I'll be sad to ruin the lovely little dolphins!

I'm sorry I don't have any swatches for you, but I am hoping the quality is equivalent to their single eyeshadows (visit Chantecaille Eyeshadow for a great review & swatches by KarlaSugar). This palette is undoubtedly pricey, at $77, but it sure is nice to look at! Each pan is divided into two slightly different shades so technically you are getting eight different shades. According to the package insert, 5% of the sale price will be donated to help save dolphins in Greece.

Boots No. 7

Occasionally I like to stop by the local Target and check out what's new in the cosmetic department. I've often passed the Boots No. 7 display and have wanted to try some of the products out but the items are sealed and there are no testers :/ so I wasn't sure if it would be worth it to take a chance on something that I might be disappointed with once I got it home... But today the single eyeshadows were marked down from $5.99 to only $2.98(!) -- a price per item that's less than my morning Starbucks fix, so I decided to go ahead and pick up a few.

I chose 30 Midnight Blue: a medium-dark iridescent sapphire blue; 70 Innocence: a matte bisque shade with the very slightest bit of shimmer; 50 Tender: a peachy-pink with very fine metallic shimmer; and 15 Truffle, a very pretty shimmery, medium brownish-taupe that leans toward the pink side on my fair skin. Innocence would make a nice highlighter/blending shade and could be used to blend out virtually any other color and is a nice mix between matte and shimmer. The texture and pigmentation of all of these are above-average.

All in all I'm pretty pleased with my drugstore deal!

Paul & Joe eye color in 92 (Tapestry)

Paul & Joe eye color in 23 (Boulevard)

Paul & Joe Face Color in 16 (Canyon)

Here are a few new items I tried out today. I really like the face color. I swirled both shades together using a highlighting brush and the result was a natural looking light salmon-pink with a very soft shimmer. I used this as a highlighter today, but I could also see using this instead of blush, as it's got enough pigmentation to be used alone to just brighten the face a little bit.

The eye colors are very lovely as well -- nice light neutrals. I used them together with Pearl Powder in the limited edition 002 (Smoke Brown) for some definition. I am really loving the Pearl Powder and can't wait to try the other shades! I've found that the shades are shimmery but not overly metallic, so they work well for daytime.

Paul & Joe Beaute

Received some new products today. Love the Paul & Joe packaging and the colors are gorgeous & subtle, with a lovely shimmer that's not over the top. More pictures to come!

"Lipstick N" in 01 and 10
01 is sheer and shiny, with a nice shimmer, but is almost transparent on the lips. I think it would be nice worn over a lip pencil or to give a little shimmer to a darker shade. Could also be worn alone if you prefer a very sheer look.
10 is a gorgeous light champagne-gold -- well-pigmented, so it can stand alone, but would be useful to lighten up or add a little shimmer to a darker shade as well. Would complement a dark or colorful eye look, as this is a great neutral shade that won't compete with the rest of your face. Love!
