Here is a look at Chantecaille's Spring 2011 Sea Turtle palette (currently available at Chantecaille.com). It contains three shadows: a "base"/highlight eye shade in a pale champagne/gold, a satin mid-toned soft brown, and a blackened teal shimmer; and one cheek color: a sheer, shimmery golden-peach. Five percent of the sales proceeds will be contributed to WIDECAST (the Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation Network).

Below: Turtle palette cheek color compared to Les Macarons palette cheek color:
As you can see below the cheek color from the Macarons palette is more of a cool rosey pink vs. the peachy-gold shade of the Turtle palette.
Below compared with Nars Orgasm:
Here you can see how the "turtle" looks without its metallic overspray
It's in the same family as Orgasm, but lighter with slightly more gold shimmer
Below is a quick comparison to Chanel's Regard Perle palette:
On the left are the Chanel shades next to their Chantecaille counterparts to the right:

~Thanks for visiting!~

What a lovely palette and for an exceptional cause to conserve turtles. The green has definately got me all memerised, what a sophisticated colour.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the gorgeous photos and swatches. I was super excited about this palette but it seems like the turtles are only an over-spray on top?
ReplyDelete@pinkribbons: Who doesn't love sea turtles, right? I think the green shade is my favorite!
ReplyDelete@Kristie, Thanks! Yes, the turtle design is only an overspray and once the product wears down and flattens out eventually there won't be any trace of the turtles left :(
Absolutely stunning photos. I can't wait to get my hands on this! Thanks for the review and swatches. It looks amazing on your arm!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you would review this. It looks stunning, I was unsure about the brown as wondered if it would be too warm but I am not going to be able to pass up that green/teal shade or cheek colour. Thanks for posting the ingredients and for a great review and pictures, as soon as that pops up on the SpaceNK site I will be ordering one! x
ReplyDeleteomg that palette is GORGEOUS.. i rarely see those colors.. especially not all together.. and i love that it's going to a good cause!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful photos and swatches. I can't help but look lustily at your other palettes too. You have such a beautiful collection!
ReplyDeleteJane x
@Sabrina: Thanks so much! I hope you like it if you get it. I need to play around with it a bit more but like it so far :)
ReplyDelete@Replica: Thanks! The brown is not extremely warm and hopefully will work well for you if you decide to get it! :)
@lisa: Thanks for commenting! It's great that Chantecaille often does these palettes for good causes. :)
@ModestyBrown: Thanks! I love palettes and it's so hard to pass up some of the new ones from my favorite brands. I'm trying to slow down on purchases and use up what I have...but it's not easy! :)
the colours look wonderful but you know what I noticed first ? The wonderful brand name....
ReplyDeleteLovely post. Have a fab week !
Thank you Ballet News -- have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous palette- thanks for the great swatches! Would you consider using the cheek shade on your eyes, as well? I think it might be too warm for my cheeks, but it's hard too pass up this beautiful palette!
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, Thanks for commenting! Yes, I think the cheek color could work nicely as an eyeshadow too! :)
ReplyDeleteOne more question :)
ReplyDeleteDo you think the turtle palette is different enough from Chanel's Regard Perle to warrant having both? They look similar to me (I also use the pink in Regard Perle as blush). I guess I'm trying to rationalize buying this lovely palette, too! Thanks!
They definitely have similar shades, the differences are: the pink shade in the Chantecaille palette has more coral/golden-peach tones rather than pink; the blackened teal shade in Regard Perle has fine micro-sparkles, whereas the Chantecaille's teal has more of a shimmery glow; the pale pearly-gold shade in the Turtle palette is a lot more sheer and less white/frosty; and of course the brown shade in the Chantecaille palette is not at all similar to any in the Chanel palette. I will update with a couple of photos. I think it might not be worth having both unless you are a big Chantecaille fan!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the Chanel and Chante comparison photos! It's so helpful to see them side-by-side. I appreciate it! :)
ReplyDeleteDang I was hoping the turtles weren't oversprayed. This quad is GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely palette, I think it will have to go on my xmas wish list. ,-)

@prettyaspeaches: I felt the same way about the overspray--and they arrived with some of the it smudged off by the package insert - oh well..made it easier to dig into the cute turtles since they weren't perfect to begin with :)
ReplyDelete@SultryRed Thanks for commenting! Hope you like it if you decide to get it.
So this sounds quite juvenile but I would honestly buy this just for the sea turtle embossing - it is so cute
ReplyDeleteHowever a double plus is that the colors are gorgeous as well and I think would be great for blue eyes especially
The pigment looks great too

@Laura J: Thanks for commenting -- I admit the cute sea turtles are the main reason I got this palette! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning palette! Do you happen to know how long these limited edition palettes are around for? I am thinking of getting it as a birthday present for myself, but that wont be for another couple of months...
ReplyDeleteOlga, I'm not sure how long this one will be available, but have noticed that Chantecaille's palettes seem to stick around a lot longer than those of brands such as MAC. For example, the Tiger in the Wild palette released in fall 2010 is still available on the Chantecaille website. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :) Hopefully I can get my hands on it before its gone!
ReplyDeleteNew to your site!
ReplyDeleteThe Chanel and the Chantecaille look identical shades. However, the turtle prints on the latter look gorgeous.

Squeeze The Pug
@Squeeze the Pug: Thanks for commenting! They are quite similar! :)
ReplyDeleteThis palette is too adorable for words and just as well there are colours to dupe it as I would never be able to bring myself to use it!
ReplyDeleteBest, Lisamarie
Hi Lisamarie, I know what you mean! I find myself using just the area around the little turtles to preserve them a bit longer! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this palette!!! I MUST HAVE IT!! Unfortunately in Germany I won't get a chance to get my hands on it :((
ReplyDeleteI've mentioned you and your blog on my blog. Hopefully you don't mind :)

Hi beautykitten15: Thanks for the mention! :) Too bad the palette is hard to get in Germany, but on the plus side your wallet will thank you :)
