NARS Summer 2011 Blush Highlighter: New Order

Here is a look at New Order, which joins Albatross in the Nars Highlight Blush Powder family. It's a pale cool pink with subtle gold and silver shimmer and microglitter. This is very light but still does provide some color, so depending on your skintone you might be able to use this as blush. It's currently available for $27 at narscosmetics.com and is not limited edition.

I don't have many cool-toned blushes or powders, but compared it below to MAC's Well Dressed. As you can see it is much cooler than the peachy/coral Super Orgasm, but it does have the similar glitter-riffic quality.

To sum up, the color is soft and pretty, and imparts a diffused glow with a hint of cool baby pink. I think this could have been great if there were a bit more pigment. I realize this is supposed to be a highlighter and I do love sparkle at times, but the micro-sparkles tend to end up on areas of the face other than the cheeks. However, they are fine particles so this may not be a problem for everyone.

  1. Flyavsted, Thanks for commenting. It is a super-pretty and soft shade but I think this is one of those products that may not work for everyone due to the texture. Try before you buy :)

  2. This looks super pretty, I'm glad this is not LE. I wonder how this would compare to MAC By Candlelight?

  3. Hi pinkribbons: By Candlelight is more of a champagne-peachy/pink -- the Nars is a much cooler toned pink and less shimmery, but does have lots of fine micro-sparkles. The texture of the MAC is smoother.

  4. If it wasn't for the glitter that would be my type of shade, although I suspect it would contain Laureth 4 like the NARS blushers do, this ingredient seems to really upset my skin.

  5. Hi Replica, I didn't see Laureth 4 on the ingredients list but I may have missed it :) I keep wanting to like this more, but it just doesn't show up much and I'm not sure if it's my skin or the product. I'm interested to see if others have better luck than me :)

  7. Hi EsteeDarla, Thanks for commenting! This color does a lot better w/something underneath to help it "stick" :)
