An Armani Jacquard Woven Look

Last Saturday I stopped by my local Saks for a look at the Armani fall collection. Armani "National Face Designer" Francisco Zacarias was visiting the store, and offered to do an impromptu application of the new fall colors. It was the first time I had ever had an entire face of makeup done by someone else and it was a learning experience and a fun way to get out of my makeup rut.

Because I don't have a lot of lid space he advised that instead of applying a thick line above the lashes as I normally do, a better method for me, and one that creates a more modern look, is tight-lining below the upper lashes. I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up my top liner, but this is nice for a change and definitely results in a more bright-eyed appearance.

Normally I use powder foundation, just because I am a bit lazy and find it very convenient and easy to apply, but he recommended using a luminizer along with a liquid foundation instead, for a more youthful and dewy look. (Be careful to use luminizers and highlighters sparingly because they sometimes have the effect of causing pores to appear larger.) He used Luminous Silk Foundation #5 and a bit of Fluid Sheer #2. The whole look is simple and easy to recreate and only took about 10 minutes!

Although these are colors from the fall collection I think the look he created with these soft icy greens and rosy tones is more spring-like.

Eye Pencil 6 - Emerald (blackened green)

He used a mixture of the seafoam green and pale golden sage on the lid and a touch of the strawberry pink from Jacquard Woven Face Palette in the crease, tight-lined upper and lower water lines with the blackened green liner #6, and brushed some of the darkest green shade from Jacquard Woven Eye Palette #1 over the pencil liner along bottom lashes for a smokier effect. (He didn't use any of the dark purple shade from the palette.)

Gloss d'Armani Pink 503

I really love the new Gloss d'Armani shades. Pink 503, a shimmery cool rose, is a favorite. I've only worn it a couple of times, but it seems to be longer lasting than other glosses I've tried. It's the perfect complement to sheer mauve Rouge d'Armani 525

The swatch on the left is all of the shades blended together and on the right are the shades swatched individually. As you can see, the darkest shade packs a punch. When mixed with all of the other shades the resulting color is a shimmery bronze-rose. This is a versatile palette with shades that can be used as blush, highlighter, and eye shadow.

  4. Hi Kristie, Thanks so much! :) Yep, it is frosty/shimmery. I haven't used it enough to tell whether I love it or not. I'm going to try using the lighter shades as eyeshadow next and see how they look! :)

Hi paintedinblack, Thanks for the kind compliment! :) I know what you mean, I hate to ruin the pretty pattern! :)

  8. You look beautiful! You are such a temptress, I was hoping I could skip this collection but don't think I can now. Did you happen to still have the box for the face palette, if so does it contain corn starch? x

  9. I never had my face done (at a counter) either. I always feel as if they try to sell you stuff as they are on commission.
But, they did a good job on your eyes and I think the tight lining is a brilliant trick! Those two palettes look so pretty and the Armani foundations are definitely an investment. Apparently they are fantastic.

  12. Hi Sabrina, Thank you so much! This was the first time I tried the Fluid Sheer and I like the glow :) The 525 lipstick would look fabulous on you! x

Hi Tracy, Thank you! I love the jacquard design of the palettes :) The luminizer is nice to try for a change :) x

Hi Replica, Thank you! :) I did keep the box & will take a photo of the ingredients & upload it above! :) I do like these shadows & couldn't resist the pretty woven pattern, but I have read conflicting reviews and some have been disappointed with the texture & pigmentation. I haven't used the face palette enough to form an opinion yet, though! x

Hi Mercedes, I know what you mean. I felt obligated to purchase a few things, but I knew I wanted one of the jacquard palettes! I get a little nervous because I am shy, but it is interesting to see what others think will be flattering on you. I didn't buy the foundation, but took home a few samples :) x

Hi Jane, Thanks so much! Seems like I have been using more green than ever lately :) The pencil is VERY soft and blendable. It so dark it almost appears black but the bit of green makes it different than anything I have. The lipstick would be lovely for you! x

Hi productdoctor, Thanks for stopping by & for the kind words! x

  16. I absolutely love that lip combo one you. I too love the new Armani glosses. I only have 505 but that one might have to be added. Looks like a perfect no fuss pink :)

  17. Hi luv2smilexo, Thank you! :) I wasn't sure the lipstick alone would work on me because it looked to plummy/mauve, but it works well with the gloss :) I don't have 505, but it looks so pretty as well! :)

  18. You don't think you have much lid space? Umm...I beg to differ! Anyway, quite a pretty look on you, though I think the plum would have been a beautiful contrast. Let us know your thoughts on the face palette once you play with it some more- this piece intrigues me the most. Gorgeous pics once again :)

  19. Absolutely gorgeous, your beautiful green eyes can pull off any eye color! Btw I also find that face palette a little too frosty on me... Hope it works for you :)

  20. Hi Julia, thanks! I was hoping he might use the plum too but guess he wasn't in the mood for plum that day lol. :)

I used the face palette today. I used the light shades as shadow and they make a very natural looking, slightly shimmery sheer look that just brightens the eye area but doesn't give a lot of color. Today I used the dark pink shade as blush and was happy with the color. It took a few light swipes of the brush to get the intensity I wanted. The pink takes up such a small area in the palette, so you must be careful not to pick up too much of the lighter colors on your brush unless you want the extra shimmer. It's a very nice palette but not a "must have" unless you are really in love with the jacquard pattern.

  21. Hi Rei, Aw, thanks so much for the kind compliment! Yes, I agree the palette can be frosty. I have to be careful not to apply too much of the shimmery shades when using it as blush. They are nice as shadow/highlighter though :)

  24. Beautiful look on you!! That lip color combo is really pretty... I have recently gotten into Armani, started with the ETK shadow in Purpura (#3)... just amazing! Fluid sheer #2 is next on my to-get list, especially paired with the new Scarletto blushing fabric it makes the most versatile glow enhancer, I'm using a generous sample that a super sweet MA gave me but cannot wait to get the full size! :) Have you tried fluid sheer #11, also a gorgeous, amber/rose color.
I must try some of the Rouge d'Armani that everyone raves about, looks amazing on you.

  25. Hi Lakshmi! Thank you :) I too recently started acquiring more Armani - my favorites are the ETK shadows :)
I have heard good things about the blushing fabric - may try that next. I will definitely try out fluid sheer #11 next time - thanks for the helpful recommendations!
I really like the texture of the Rouge d'Armani :)

  32. I've heard so much about this Armani foundation, were you happy with it? It looks really good. I like the look he did on you.

  33. Hi Cafe Bellini, Thanks so much! I did like the foundation but he also mixed in a lot of luminizer so I'm not sure how it would be on its own. I still need to use the samples I took home. Most of the time I end up just brushing on powder foundation because it's so convenient! :)
