Dolce & Gabbana Rose Blush

Hello, This post is for Replica of Visionary Beauty, but I thought I would share with everyone in case this might be helpful to someone else. I photographed Dolce & Gabbana's "the blush" in Rose alongside all of my other D&G blushes, and a couple of others that were within reach: Chanel Rose Dust and NARS Deep Throat, to give you a better idea of the true color. Rose is a pretty, rosy satin pink. It gives a natural looking healthy pink flush. It can be soft and sheer if applied moderately, but it is also well pigmented and may appear a little ruddy if applied heavily on fair skin. Apologies for the poor quality of the swatches -- I took them last night and this morning in low lighting. (For reference, my skintone is a match to Bobbi Brown Sand or MAC NC 15.)

  4. Lovely, Rose looks like the perfect pink! I believe the new for Fall Mocha blush is a combination of Rose and Delight, I don't have either but Mocha is also supper pretty and flattering! I really love the feel of D&G blushes, and I finally caved and got Sole in my last order: am sooo happy with it! Have a great weekend!

  7. D&G makeup is my new eye candy; I love seeing pictures of it online! I love your blush collection, especially Sole and Nude. Do you know what the iconic D&G products are? I'd love to check out my nearby counter one day, but I don't know where to start!

  8. Hi Perilously Pale - I really like most of the D&G blushes I've tried. :)

Hi Lakshmi, Ooh, Mocha sounds nice. Glad you are happy with Sole - it's definitely unique in my collection. I really like it! :) Have a great weekend! :)

Hi Replica, Glad to be of help! Good luck with your purchases! :)

Hi Glitterish Allsorts, NARS DT has been around for a long time and is still one of my top favorites! :)

  9. Hi Dovey, Thanks! :) All of my D&G purchases have been made online sight unseen as my local Saks doesn't carry this line. Caramel was my first purchase and I really enjoy it for an everyday warm neutral. I believe Provocative was really popular when it was first launched. Dahlia (really deep vampy plum) items are well known, but I only have the nail polish. I have a few lipsticks and like most of them but they are heavily scented. I like the Contrasts & Champagne eye quads.:)

  11. Hi Makeup Merriment, Thank you! :) I really like Tarte's Amazonian Clay blushes and have heard good things about the shade Exposed - I may have to get it one day! :) xx

  12. Thanks for the reply--- I just looked and Champagne is such a beautiful quad! I'm also intrigued by the Laguna duo. Well, here's to daydreaming about high-end makeup =)

  13. Rose is so beautiful. Sadly Chanel Rose Dust did not work for me--it made my skin look muddy. D&G has that same brown undertone but it looks like there's less of it. Nude and Rosebud are also really appealing to me. Thanks for the great review! I have so far managed to avoid buying all but a single D&G lip gloss, but I do love looking at the pictures and reading about it.

  14. Hi again Dovey, I was also just doing a little daydreaming about a new YSL blush I just saw on a blog, and also want to get a couple more Guerlain shadows--my wishlist is getting longer and longer... :)

Hi Zuzu's Petals, Yes, Rose Dust has a lot of brown/dusty plum tones to it, so it doesn't give the healthy brightening effect that some other blushes do. I admire your resistance to D&G! :) I like this brand because it feels luxe with the gold packaging, and the quality is generally really high, but I have ended up with a few things I don't use often, so now I'm trying to be more discerning! :)

  18. Hi memoiselle, Provocative is gorgeous! :)

Hi Anonymous, Thank you! I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 with the standard lens it comes with and for close-ups I use a Leica macro lens. :)

Hi Kassandra, Thank you! Thanks for stopping by :)

Hi sanam, Yes D&G has some great blushes :)

  19. Beautiful collection! I wish D&G makeup were sold here (Canada). More than Rose, Sole is looking at me with such a come-hither gaze that I feel weak in the knees. ;D

  20. Rose is so pretty. I'm literally drooling over your D&G blush collection. I really wish they would have a local counter so I can check out their line. For now I'll just have to lust after your swatches.

  21. Hi Anonymous, you're welcome :)

Hi Liz, Thank you - Sole is by far the most pigmented blush I own :)

Hi Kristie, wish I had a counter nearby - I take chances ordering online sight unseen a lot of the time - not always the best thing to do! :)

  22. Like the soft and nice shades that are displaying here...when choosing shades have to also take to note whether they compliment the skin at all.

  23. Thank you for your review!! I am thinking to get D&G blush from US (we have no D&G counter in NZ) and I am wondering if you could give me your opinion about the suitable color for me. I have medium to olive skin tone and I am looking for everyday blush that is Fresh/Brightening pinkish brown. Hope you can help me here ;)

    1. Hi Rebecca Sofia, Hmm it is tough to say, but I believe "Mocha" may work well for your skintone. I don't have it myself, but have seen photos and it looks like a nice everyday shade. Rose would probably also work for your skintone, but it doesn't have brown tones. I have also heard good things about "Mauve Diamond". If you do a Google search for hudabeauty.com you will find photos of it applied and there are also swatches of this particular shade at The Beauty Look Book. Good luck with your purchase! :)

  24. Ohhh thank you for your opinion!!! :D Wowww, I'm pretty happy you referred to "Mocha" because my first option is "Mocha" and my second option is "Caramel". What do you think about "Caramel"? Do you think it has pinkish colour on it or is it only tan/beige neutral color? Cheers. xx

    1. I like Caramel when I want to wear something very neutral that won't compete with a more colorful eye look, but I'm not certain how well it will show up on darker or tan skin-tones. Also, it's not very brightening, but does provide a nice peachy-tan color. :)

There is a good review & swatches at the blog "Makeup Never Sleeps" that may be helpful: http://www.makeupneversleeps.com/2010/10/dolce-gabbana-caramel-blush-review.html
