Happy Halloween weekend

Before Halloween has come and gone, I wanted to share some photos I took at a small local market a couple of weeks ago. These were taken at Norman Brothers, a family-owned and operated grocery store that's been in the same location in Miami for over 40 years. They have great home made pumpkin bread, key lime pie, and all sorts of baked goods, milk shakes, locally grown organic produce, fresh seafood from the Florida Keys, gourmet cheeses and deli sandwiches made to order--you name it! If you're ever near the Kendall area in Miami I recommend visiting if you have the time, as you'll be sure to find something tasty! I like to stop by at this time of year to pick up a pumpkin or two.

(It was rainy with bad lighting the morning I went, hence some not-so-great photos!)

These two went home with me!

~ Have a great weekend ~

  1. This pumpkin post reminds me of local markets I visited during my childhood! I loved seeing all the knobbly and gnarly pumpkins. There's something quite beautiful about imperfection. Of course, the young perfectly shaped pumpkins that went home with you are wonderful as well! The idea of fresh key lime pie, gourmet cheese, and seafood, has my mouth watering. (On a side note, I'd always imagined you to be from SF. Not sure where I got that from =)

  2. Happy Halloween to you too! Are those two pumpkins for cooking or decorative purpose? I myself love everything (food wise) that has pumpkin in it: pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, pumpkin bread, and Starbucks pumpkin spiced latte (so good...). I could make a pretty good pumpkin cheesecake if I may say so. Hmm...all this pumpkin talk is making me hungry. I definitely should bake something with pumpkin tomorrow...

  3. Pumpkins are such funny things. :)

Hope you're having a great weekend!

  4. Hi Dovey, I love the really big gnarly pumpkins too, but ended up taking home really little ones :)

Hi Paige, thanks - I bought mine for decorations but you could cook with them as well. OOh pumpkin cheesecake sounds amazing! :)

Hi Liz, Thanks! - enjoy what's left of the weekend! If only it were longer... :)
