There are four Chanel polishes included with the new Rouge Allure Velvet collection:
- Rose Caché
- Rose Exubérant
- Top Coat Velvet/Mat Top Coat
Rose Caché is a pale rose-beige and has Chanel's "secret shimmer," which can be seen in the bottle but is not very apparent on the nails. It's a nice delicate, neutral shade. If you were a fan of Jade Rose you will probably like this one as well. I haven't done a comparison yet, but Rose Caché seems a little dustier. This one had a nice formula, albeit on the sheer side.
Rose Exubérant is a hibiscus pink in the bottle. However, the appearance of this one really varies depending on the lighting situation. In the wheel swatch photos below which were taken in bright sunlight it appears almost neon, but fear not, it is not nearly as bright as this in person. In low light it is not as warm toned and looks like a rosy fuchsia or watermelon pink--quite a difference! I'm sorry I wasn't able to capture the true color, but am short on time so didn't have a chance to take more photos in other lighting conditions. I definitely recommend looking at other swatches on the web if you don't have an opportunity to see this in person. The formula gave great coverage in just two coats, with no streaking.
Pirate is a beautiful cherry red with a great jelly formula. I love jelly polishes because they have such a glossy finish and this one does not disappoint! Apparently this shade is a re-release, but I do not own the original so I'm not sure whether the formula or color have changed any. This polish is lovely and definitely worth a look for any red lover. It seems like a shade that would be flattering on many skin tones.
Chanel's Top Coat Velvet is the first matte top coat I've ever tried so I can't say whether this is superior to other products out there, but it does achieve a nice soft and velvety matte finish and doesn't take long to dry. I'm not a huge fan of matte nails but thought it might be nice to try for a change. It looks interesting over the darker shades and I especially like it over Rose Exubérant.
