Chanel Le Vernis: Rose Cache, Rose Exuberant & Pirate

There are four Chanel polishes included with the new Rouge Allure Velvet collection:

  • Rose Caché
  • Rose Exubérant
  • Pirate
  • Top Coat Velvet/Mat Top Coat

Rose Caché is a pale rose-beige and has Chanel's "secret shimmer," which can be seen in the bottle but is not very apparent on the nails. It's a nice delicate, neutral shade. If you were a fan of Jade Rose you will probably like this one as well. I haven't done a comparison yet, but Rose Caché seems a little dustier. This one had a nice formula, albeit on the sheer side.

Rose Exubérant is a hibiscus pink in the bottle. However, the appearance of this one really varies depending on the lighting situation. In the wheel swatch photos below which were taken in bright sunlight it appears almost neon, but fear not, it is not nearly as bright as this in person. In low light it is not as warm toned and looks like a rosy fuchsia or watermelon pink--quite a difference!  I'm sorry I wasn't able to capture the true color, but am short on time so didn't have a chance to take more photos in other lighting conditions. I definitely recommend looking at other swatches on the web if you don't have an opportunity to see this in person. The formula gave great coverage in just two coats, with no streaking.

Pirate is a beautiful cherry red with a great jelly formula. I love jelly polishes because they have such a glossy finish and this one does not disappoint! Apparently this shade is a re-release, but I do not own the original so I'm not sure whether the formula or color have changed any. This polish is lovely and definitely worth a look for any red lover. It seems like a shade that would be flattering on many skin tones.

Chanel's Top Coat Velvet is the first matte top coat I've ever tried so I can't say whether this is superior to other products out there, but it does achieve a nice soft and velvety matte finish and doesn't take long to dry. I'm not a huge fan of matte nails but thought it might be nice to try for a change. It looks interesting over the darker shades and I especially like it over Rose Exubérant.

  2. Both roses are super gorgeous but I have a hard time spending money on anything that's pink. I did check them out but feel they're not really me. But they are beautiful and look great on you!!

  3. Hi Larie, I kind of like the matte - something different! :)

Hi Liz, The darker pink feels like a spring color to me - would be good for a pedicure. I love Pirate the best, I think! :)

  4. I was at the mall last night and I tried Rose Cache on my nails. At first I din't like it but after a couple of hours I loved it. I can't wait until I go back to the mall and get it.

  5. Hi giovanny, I was the same way with Rose Cache, at first I wasn't too crazy about it but after a while I began to like it more & am glad I got it - the sales assistant said it was the last bottle so I guess it was a popular shade at that store :)

  6. Oooh Rose Cache! The shade is right up my alley. I'm still contemplating Exuberant and Pirate. Who am I kidding right? I'll probably end up with all three. Thanks for the beautiful swatches.

  7. gorgeous! I so need a manicure and I really like Rose Cache - I'm considering lifting my "no-Chanel polish ban" because i like it so much. Okay, I should at least go to the Chanel boutique to see it in person if possible!

  9. Hi Kristie, Thanks for commenting :) I almost got only two shades but the collector in me wanted them all! I am happy with them though :)

Hi Lexi, Definitely worth checking Rose Cache out in person. It is kinda sheer but looks pretty with 3 coats : )

Hi Cafe Bellini, I was surprised that Chanel came out with a matte top coat but it goes well with the Rouge Allure Velvet theme! I am still wearing Rose Exuberant today & like it a lot :)

  10. These polishes are gorgeous but I passed on them since I splurged on the Chanel Fall Collection (Peridot, Graphite & Quartz). However, these look amazing on you! I am trying really hard to stay away from my closest Chanel counter lol!

  11. Hi tasha, thank you! :) I know what you mean, I probably didn't really *need* these & I hadn't paid attention to this collection and didn't even know these were coming out, but stumbled on them in the mall & then of course could not resist the temptation to get them! :)

  16. I love Rose Caché, Rose Exubérant, and Pirate. I'd buy every single one if I thought they were different enough from what I already have. Shimmer aside, I wonder how similar Rose Caché is to Rose Condidential and whether Rose Exubérant is like Rose Insolent. I love a good jelly red, too, but I MUST stop, as I already have around 25 Chanel polishes, more than I will ever use in this lifetime (when compared to all my other np brands). Your photos are, as always, gorgeous.

  17. Hi ZP, I will try to pull out my Rose Confidential and Rose Insolent to do a comparison photo this weekend. From what I can remember Rose Confidential is a lot darker. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the kind words! :-)
