Happy New Year & Bobbi Brown's Party Shimmer Brick

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've posted as life has gotten busy lately, but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for your support and comments throughout the year. I wish each and every one of you a happy and safe New Year's Eve and I hope that 2012 brings you all great things!

I thought today would be an especially appropriate time to feature my new Bobbi Brown Party Shimmer Brick. I really like this highlighter as it gives such a pretty golden glow and can double as eye shadow as well.

Below is a look at the swatches blended out. As you can see the shimmer is not overly metallic but it does have a noticeably luminous effect. The powder does not seem to be as finely-milled as some other recent, more natural-looking highlighters such as Chanel's Pearl Glow Highlighting Powder, but still it's very pretty and when the two shades are mixed together the result is a flattering sheer, pale gold along the lines of NARS Albatross.

Cheers to the New Year!

Holiday Shopping: Henri Bendel

Today I'd like to share a few photos taken during and after a recent shopping trip to Henri Bendel. Earlier this year I was happy to see this New York icon since 1895 open a store in my area in South Florida. I finally ventured in last week to do some holiday shopping. I wanted almost everything in the store so it was a bit difficult to restrain myself!

I bought some sweets and candles for coworkers and a makeup brush set, a trio of Nails Inc. polishes, a glittery makeup bag, and a candle set for myself.

The Bendel candles smell lovely and make nice, reasonably priced gift for friends or colleagues, and the signature brown and white gift box always makes a great impression.

Love the watercolor design on these chocolate wrappers!

These cookies are going to a friend, but I'm kinda wishing I would have gotten some to try myself!

I am always drawn to anything shiny and sparkly!

Berkley Mews

Old Park Lane

Lexington Street

Left to right: Lexington Street, Old Park Lane, Berkeley Mews.

Lexington Street is a chocolatey-plum with blue-green sparkles. It's quite sheer, so needs 3 to 4 coats to look its best. Old Park Lane is a an opaque rose-bronze foil with a very thick formula. This one actually covers quite well with only one coat. Berkeley Mews is a softly shimmery indigo-violet that looks more purple toned on the nails than it does in the bottle and in these swatches.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the rest of your week!
