MAC Endless Night from the Daphne Guinness collection

Hope you're all enjoying this first day of 2012. Whew, the holiday season has flown by this year! (Maybe it's only me, but things seem to get complicated both in the office and personally around this time of year so I'm always secretly a bit relieved when the holidays are over and life resumes as normal again.)

Today I have for you MAC's Endless Night from the new Daphne Guinness collection, which I've been wearing for the past couple of days. There are two additional polishes included in this collection: Hyperion, a blue-toned gray creme, and Blueblood, a very dark, vampy purple creme. However, I passed on those as I already own similar shades, and chose only Endless Night -- a grayed-out, taupey lavender/lilac with very subtle pink shimmer. I still can't decide whether or not it's a nice and soft neutral with an edge, or whether it just gives me corpse-hands. In any case, I kind of like it! What do you think?

The bottle I got has a giant scratch across the glass.  : /

Thanks for visiting and happy 2012!

  1. What an interesting shade--- it's a plane jane shade, yet has some pinky iridescence. I think I'm confused, yet delighted at the same time :)

  2. I like it! I don't think it's corpse-hand-y. :D The shimmer keeps it from being flat, which is nice!

  3. Hi Dovey, I think I feel the same way! lol :)

Hi Larie, Thanks! Yes, the shimmer is what drew me to this one. It's very subtle but still noticeable in certain lighting :)

  4. I love it! I thought the entire collection was much more impressive in person than online. I plan to pick up this polish, and a lipstick and gloss soon.

  5. Looked at the pics thinking, nope this isn't setting my world on fire and then realised by the end of the post that there is a very strong chance I am going to look back and wish I had bought this later in the year when I am over the wintery vampy colours!

  6. Hi Ava, Thanks! Yes, I agree this is the kind of collection that is best seen in person :)

Hi ihavemostlybeen, I know what you mean :) I usually prefer colors that contrast with my skintone and the darker winter colors seem to be more flattering, but I liked this because of the subtle shimmer - just wish it was a bit more apparent! :)

  7. oooh very pretty. I can't seem to get enough of these grey, taupe-lilac shades! I think I can stop collecting them but a great one always seems to come out each month....

  8. Hi Lexi, I'm the same way, even though I have some similar shades, lately there have been quite a few that are just different and special enough to justify buying! :)

  9. Is it weird that I think it does give you the most incredibly chic and elegant corpse hands ever? ;)
