Fruit Series: Peach & Tangelo for nails

Today's post is the third in my fruit series and it's all about shades of peach and tangelo. This will be the final post on nails, although I would one day like to do a blueberry and kiwi post, including nail and eye products. How pretty would that be?

I am in love with the vibrant orange/tangelo shades for summer, but I have to say that the peach portion of this post was my favorite because I thoroughly enjoyed this bowl of peach ice cream with sliced peaches right after I took these photos! Such are the perks of beauty blogging.

In case you missed them, here are links to part one, Pink Grapefruit & Watermelon, and part two, Guava & Mango

Left to right: Wellington Square, Play Day, June, Peach-a-Boo!, Peach Light

Peach

  1. Essie A Crewed Interest
  2. OPI Peach-a-Boo!
  3. Sally Hansen Sorbet
  4. Essie Van D'Go
  5. Chanel Peche Nacree
  6. Estee Lauder Peach Light
  7. Chanel June
  8. Nails Inc. Wellington Square
  9. NARS Orgasm
  10. Essie Shop Till I Drop
  11. Essie Tart Deco
  12. MAC Play Day
  13. MAC RazzleDazzler
  14. Orly Peachy Parrot
  15. China Glaze Thataway
Note that #2, Peach-a-Boo! is quite sheer and best used as a topper, but can be used alone if you apply multiple coats. It is shown above with four coats. NARS' Orgasm is also fairly sheer and requires at least three coats to reach opacity.

Tangelo

  1. Zoya Arizona
  2. Jessica Tangerine
  3. Zoya Tanzy
  4. Essie Orange, It's Obvious!
  5. Deborah Lippmann Lara's Theme
  6. Dior Aloha
  7. Sephora by OPI Once a Cheetah, Always a Cheetah
  8. OPI A Roll in the Hague
  9. OPI Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?
  10. Orly Orange Punch
  11. Le Metier de Beaute Not So Safe Orange
  12. Essie Meet Me At Sunset
  13. Sephora Torrid Shimmer
As you can see #3 Zoya's Tanzy and #7 Sephora by OPI's Once a Cheetah, Always a Cheetah are basically identical. Of all the shades shown, Orly's Orange Punch is the most vibrant "traffic cone" orange. I find that slightly deeper shades of neon orange, like Dior's Aloha are easier to carry off.  Although it's not a shade I would wear often, I like Zoya's Arizona for a nice punch of citrus color.

A note of trivia: Did you know that the Tangelo is a hybrid fruit that is a cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit? I sure didn't. I always assumed it was a cross between an orange and a tangerine! W. T. Swingle of the U.S. Department of Agriculture is credited with creating the hybrid in 1911 (source: Wikipedia).

By the way, how do you store your nail polish?

    1. Thanks Liz!! I have a pretty inefficient way of storing them right now because I don't have a lot of space. I have them in the large plastic Snapware storage containers that are sold at Target. They are roomy and have a handle, but you must support the bottom when moving them around. I have these stacked and hidden away in a wardrobe. The main problem with my current method is that it is not easy to access and see all the shades quickly. One day I plan to buy a chest of drawers, or maybe something similar to the Ikea Helmers... :)

    1. Hi Larie lol, I seriously enjoyed eating these peaches and tangelos! Nice excuse to have some extra fruit around the house :) Dior has some really great polishes! I'm glad there are shades available that are pretty close to Aloha :)

  9. I have soooo enjoyed these creative, fruit themed polish posts. I had sort of lost interest in my polishes but now my collection will be 9 polishes richer - as soon as my orders arrive from all corners of the world:)). MANY, many thanks for the fresh & fruity inspiration!

    1. Hi Buggsiebee, thanks for the sweet comment! I hope you enjoy your new polishes! My own collection is pretty much complete. I am running out of space and now have told myself I must give away an old polish for every new one I get! :)

    2. That's a lovely idea! How do you know that your collection is complete though?? Is it when it starts taking over ALL the cupboard space:))

    3. Yes, that's a good sign maybe it's time to stop acquiring new polishes! :)) But it's not easy when there is always a beautiful new collection available from my favorite brands, and there's always at least one or two shades I want! :)

  10. My mouth is watering at the sight of the peaches and (ice)cream :) I love the colors Tart Deco and Van'd go; that Essie collection was a beautiful one. Tangerine and peach are perfect colors for summer!

Interesting trivia on tangelos; I never thought about what hybrid they were created from (aside from the tangerine part). The -elo ending reminded me of Pomelos which taste like grapefruit. So, I looked pomelo up on wiki too, and it says that grapefruits are hybrids of pomelos and oranges! Pretty cool :)

    1. Hi Dovey! I started getting into nail polish after that Essie collection was released - I should look it up to see what other colors were included. :) That's interesting about the grapefruit -- I never knew :) It's amazing that they can create hybrids like that!
