Fruit Series: Pink Grapefruit & Watermelon for nails

Today's post is the first in a summer series inspired by the colors of fruit. I'm starting out with nails!

Lippmann P.Y.T., Paul & Joe #11, Essie Carousel Coral, Butter London Trout Pout

Pink Grapefruit

  1. Jessica Pink Lemonade
  2. Deborah Lippmann P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)
  3. Dior Pink Boa
  4. Sally Hansen First Kiss
  5. Paul & Joe #11
  6. Sally Hansen Sweetie Pie
  7. NARS Trouville
  8. China Glaze IV
  9. Sally Hansen It's Chiff-on!
  10. Butter London Trout Pout
  11. Sinful Colors Island Coral
  12. Essie Carousel Coral
I had always considered these types of pale salmon-pink colors as "cantaloupe" but in reality, cantaloupe is more yellow-orange toned, so I'm taking the liberty of calling these "pink grapefruit" shades instead! Any way you look at it, this family of pinks is flattering, easy-to-wear, and perfect for the season. My favorites here are NARS Trouville and Sally Hansen's Sweetie Pie. Sinful Colors Island Coral is also a lovely shade that's very similar to Butter London's Trout Pout, but at a fraction of the cost.

Jessica Seductress, OPI Charged Up Cherry, Zoya Kimber, China Glaze Mediterranean Charm, Essie Watermelon

Watermelon

  1. Essie Fruit Sangria
  2. Nails Inc. Shoreditch
  3. Essie Watermelon
  4. China Glaze Heli-yum
  5. China Glaze Mediterranean Charm
  6. Jessica Seductress
  7. Revlon Jelly
  8. OPI Dutch Tulips
  9. OPI Too Hot Pink to Hold 'Em
  10. Sinful Colors Folly
  11. Zoya Kimber
  12. Dior Plaza
  13. OPI Charged Up Cherry
  14. Sephora by OPI Go With the Flow-er
  15. OPI Come to Poppy

Watermelon pink is a gorgeous bold shade for spring and summer months. I especially like it as a pedicure shade. It's so tough to choose a favorite here! I love number one above, Essie's Fruit Sangria, which is similar to the brand's popular shade, Watermelon, but has a touch of subtle shimmer. Note that numbers 6 and 7, Jessica's Seductress, and OPI's Too Hot Pink to Hold 'Em have sheer jelly finishes, and number 14 Go With the Flow-er is also fairly sheer.

  6. Absolutely delectable! Pink grapefruit is one of my favorite fruits and colors too, so this post was a real treat! I'm stuck on NARS Trouville lately as my color, but your swatch of Butter London Trout pout also caught my eye. Hmmm.

    1. Hi Dovey, Thanks! :) Trout Pout is nice when you want something a little bolder and deeper-toned, but I think Trouville is more versatile :) Both are so pretty though!

    1. Thanks ZP!! I took the photos of the fruit on a day off from work and then the nail swatches over a weekend...and it did seem to take forever to finish--I must admit it was a relief to be done with the nails! But now I'm thinking of doing blush & lipstick... :)

  16. hello! I love this! I have been on the hunt for a specific Essie coral color I came across at a nail salon and have gone through 3 wrong colors! Can you remember if that Essie Carousel Coral has a shimmer to it? Thank you so much! Really do love this and great photos!

  17. Hi Sarah, Thank you!! :) From what I remember Carousel Coral does not have any shimmer. It is a pretty color - not too bright and has a nice balance or orange and pink tones :)
