Hi guys! I hope you are all having a great Cinco de Mayo! I'm finally getting around to posting the items I chose from NARS Summer 2012. I ordered these at NARS.com a couple of weeks ago but the collection is now available at store counters. Since there have already been so many great reviews of these items posted in the beauty blogosphere, I will skip the detailed color descriptions and will let the photos speak for themselves. One interesting surprise I received with this collection was my Ramatuelle palette -- read on to see what I mean!
"One of these things is not like the other"...
Take a look at the palette on the top-left. What is wrong with this picture? I received a "special" Ramatuelle palette--one with two peach pans and no silver. Apparently, someone was having an "off" day at the factory. Despite the minor mishap, I was very happy with the service at NARS. I quickly received a replacement palette, along with a complimentary shadow base, and best of all I get to hold on to my freak Ramatuelle palette (which I've grown quite fond of). I now have enough peachy-orange shadow to last a lifetime! Yeah!
Don't mind my short nails! Just when they start to grow one will break and then I have to trim them all down because I like all of them to be the same length (because I'm weirdly OCD like that).
Trouville is such a lovely shade of salmon pink. I'm not sure if it's all that unique, but it is very pretty and feminine, and easy to wear. I think it would look great on toes! No complaints about the formula. It went on well and was not too streaky.
It was very hot outside when I was taking these photos and my pencils started to melt. This is why the Velvet Matte lip pencil above looks a bit shiny, and the Calabria pencil below started sliding around in its casing. (Note to self: Do not leave expensive, brand-new makeup outside in 90-degree weather for more than a few minutes at a time!)
The Marie Galante duo has an interesting cream-powder hybrid texture that helps it adhere well to the skin. Although it is quite sparkly, the particles are very fine so there is no grittiness. Based on first impressions, I like this formula a lot more than that of the recent Night Series palette. You can see how beautiful this palette looks when applied, on Makeupzone.net. I pinned the look to my Beauty Inspiration board on Pinterest. (I'm new to Pinterest and would love it if you would follow me! I haven't had a chance to update my boards as often as I'd like, but it's a lot of fun to do when I have the spare time. Would love to see what inspires you!)
I hope to post more photos of some of these items as I try them out over the next several days. I know it's usually more helpful to see products actually applied on someone's face rather than just swatches!
