In their holiday collection this year, Happy Holidays, Lancome brings us a well-edited selection of three new Le Vernis in Love nail polishes, all beautiful and classically festive shades.
Flirty Red is a bordeaux red with shimmer, not unlike Chanel's holiday shade, Malice. The Chanel seems to dry a bit shinier and I prefer its formula, but the shimmer in Flirty Red is slightly more apparent. To my eye, Malice comes across as a bit more sophisticated and refined on the nails than Flirty Red does. But I love them both! I do think they are similar enough that it would not be worth picking up Flirty Red if you already have Malice.
Bubbly Gold is a flattering, shimmery golden shade. Some golds can be too yellow-toned or brassy, but Bubbly Gold strikes a nice balance between warm and cool. I'd actually say it's more of a pale bronze than a true gold. It may not be all that unique, but for some reason I really like this one and so far it's my favorite of the bunch!
Ginger Swing is the shade that really stood out to me at the counter. It's a pretty platinum-taupe with tiny flecks of gold shimmer throughout. It made me think of shades like OPI's Designer, de Better! where you have a base color with a contrasting shade of shimmer mixed in, except in Ginger Swing the contrasting shimmer particles are so small that there is no discernible difference in shades on the nail, it just serves to make the color more interesting and sparkly.

Sorry for the gigantic macro-fingers! I think the shot above in low light shows the colors most accurately.
In sunlight
In shade
The shimmer really comes alive in bright lighting
What are your favorite nail colors to wear during the holiday season?

Love these! I think I "need" all three of them. Did you get the highlighter? It sort of reminded me of Guerlains highlighter last year (holiday).
ReplyDeleteHi Flyavsted, Lancome has been doing a really nice job with their nail polishes lately. I only wish the bottles were larger with more product! I did get the highlighter and it also reminds me of Guerlain's! Really pretty :)
DeleteHi Makeup Magpie, What wonderful colors, they do come alive in the sunlight! Ginger swing would be my favorite from your swatches for its spicy name and sparkling color. I haven't decided on what my holiday nail colors will be this season, but most likely I'll be reaching for reds :)
ReplyDeleteHi Dovey, Ginger swing is really pretty and I thought the name was interesting! I don't think you can go wrong with reds - love them for nails! :)
Delete*Sigghhh* I love the winter season for all the beautiful beauty products it bears, like these! Not sure if my budget can afford these, but they are gorgeous.

Hi Erin, I agree, in the winter season there are just so many beautiful beauty items! With the amount of shopping I've done lately I'll need to put myself on a makeup no-buy for a few months to make up for it!
DeleteThis has me eagerly anticipating the holidays! Bubbly Gold is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie, me too! I especially love the cooler weather at this time of year, just as long as it doesn't get too cold! :)
DeleteGorgeous!! I must go back to pick them up. Doesn't the red one look similar to Chanel's Malice? Maybe a tad brighter?
ReplyDeleteHi Kristie, Yep, it does look a lot like Malice, but you're right, I think it may be a tad brighter. Love them both! :)
DeleteOh my gosh..
ReplyDeleteBubbly gold looks amazing! I am not sure whether Lancome polishes will hit Singapore local store as usually Lancome does not carry polishes. The eyeshadow also looks very pretty. I love how it looks on the pan, very sparkly <3
Hi Memoiselle, I really like Lancome's offerings this season :) Aw, that is too bad they don't usually carry polishes, but hopefully the holiday ones will make it to you this year?
DeleteFlirty Red is SOOOO pretty in the light! PERFECT holiday red, if you ask me :)
ReplyDeleteHi Becca, It really does look pretty in sunlight! I hope to get a lot of use out of it over the holidays :)
DeleteThe nail polishes are gorgeous of course, but you now have me lemming the even more stunning shadow and eyeliner!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, :) I thought the pattern on the shadow was cool! It's a great all-over shade. The liner is nice and subtle but it does have tiny micro-glitter.
DeleteAll three nailpolishes are so gorgoeus!! My favourit is the golden one! It has such a perfect shade!! Thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteHope you visit me on my blog
