Chanel Spring Nail Color: Emprise, Fracas, and Accessoire

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a good Monday so far. Today I have a few photos of the three new nail polishes offered in Chanel's Spring collection, Printemps Precieux

Emprise is a soft, pale peachy-beige with a touch of silver frosty shimmer. The silver is only slightly apparent on the nails, mostly it just provides a pretty sheen. It applied like a dream and covered well in two coats, but three might be preferred by those who dislike any visible nail line (I used two thick coats in the photos below).

Fracas is a vibrant and cheerful warm pink with subtle shimmer. The shimmer that can be seen in the bottle is hardly visible once applied on the nails. This shade also applied smoothly and was opaque in two coats. I predict this will be a favorite when spring actually arrives!

Accessoire is a glossy oxblood creme. This shade is unexpected for a spring collection, but in today's world, when it comes to nail color, anything goes! Again, there were no troublesome issues with application and it dried to a glossy finish that was opaque in two coats.

The swatches below of Emprise and Fracas were taken close to sunset so the light here is a bit warm. I believe this caused Fracas to pull more orange, but in reality it is hot pink. My photo shoot was cut short after I accidentally stepped on a bee! Oh, the perils of blogging! ;) I recommend visiting The Beauty Look Book and Pointless Cafe to see more views of these shades.

Flash lighting

I wore Accessoire last night and to work today, where I took a few photos that show it in different lighting situations. It reminds me very much of OPI's Mrs. O'Leary BBQ, which is a gorgeous brownish-red that really does resemble the color of barbecue sauce. In dim light, as in the photo below, Accessoire can sometimes appear to be a dark chocolate-brown, but in brighter light the burgundy-wine tones predominate.

I think all three shades are classic and beautiful...yet...I can't help but feel a twinge of longing for something more exciting or groundbreaking. I suppose the final verdict is out though, until I've had a chance to wear Fracas and Emprise for a full day or two.

What do you think? Will you be picking up any of Chanel's spring nail colors?

~ Thank you for visiting! ~

  1. Accessoire looks to my eye very similar to Rouge Fatale...nothing in this collection really floats my boat (thank goodness!) LOL

    Thanks for the lovely pics.

    Best, Lisa

    1. Hi Lisa, Thank you! I don't have Rouge Fatale, but judging from swatches I've seen, I think Accessoire is slightly darker and plummier. It's sometimes nice when we are not in love with a collection and can save for the next one -- there's bound to be something more amazing on the horizon! :)

  2. Î have a few Chanel polishes, but will probably pass on these due to dupes. They are definitely all classic and wearable though. You have very pretty nails :)

    1. Hi Martha, Thank you! :) I agree these are pretty easily duped. I know I must have at least a few polishes that are very similar to each of these, especially Accessoire. I will have to pull out some of my pinky-corals/fuchsias to see how they compare to Fracas! :)

    1. Hi Jess, lol aw, you're sweet! Thanks so much! I'm always thinking how I wish I could borrow a hand model to use for my nail swatches, so your comment makes me feel a lot better about these old hands of mine :)

  6. I'll reiterate what others have said, you have lovely hands (and nonsense, they are not old!).

The colors of these polishes are nothing new but I don't have any polish in my stash that is similar to Emprise yet. I think I'm going to get this but I just wish the shimmers show up more. I was not interested in Accessoire at all initially but your photo convinced me otherwise (and I love your comparison of it to BBQ sauce :D ). I would probably won't wear it during the spring though. Thank goodness that this shade is not limited edition. I will have time (and budget)to buy it later for fall next year.

    1. Hi Paige, Thank you!! :) Emprise is a nice neutral to have, especially since you don't already have something similar :) Accessoire would be nice to have but it's not terribly unique -- it's always a relief when things aren't limited edition!

    1. Hi LRW, Thanks so much for the kind comment! :) I was scared for a few minutes when I got stung because I couldn't remember if I had ever been stung before as a kid, and I've heard that some people are allergic, but luckily it wasn't too bad :) I'm still wearing Accessoire on my nails today. It's very dark and dramatic :)

  11. Emprisse and Fracas look so pretty! I must be craving spring/summer quite badly to be looking at those shades. Do you know if Accessoire is similar to Chanel April at all? I love the shot of your hand with it against the map. :)

    1. Hi Liz, Thank you! :) Accessoire is a lot darker/vampier than April. Sabrina over at The Beauty Look Book did a post recently with some great comparisons that might be helpful, if you haven't already seen it:
