Urban Decay has further expanded its profitable NAKED empire with a set of new
polishes based on six of their popular eye shadows:
Hustle, Naked, Smog, Toasted, Creep, and Sidecar. I tried out five of the six today in Sephora and was pleasantly surprised! (A
ll are shown above except for Creep, which is a black with silver glitter.) They went on smoothly and covered nicely in two coats, though the more sheer shades such as
Sidecar and
Toasted look best with three. Perhaps the only negative to these is that the amount of product you get is quite small, at only 0.16 oz each. Otherwise, at $26, this is a nice selection of neutrals and they really do resemble their shadow counterparts. Who knew the idea of having matching nail polish and eye shadow could be so appealing?

Apologies that
Creep is missing from the lineup. I hadn't planned on posting these and when I tested them in-store I quit when I had used up all five fingers on my left hand! Visit
Vampy Varnish,
Beauty Junkies Unite and
Belle in the Bayou for a look at
Creep and for more views of the rest of these shades in different lighting situations.
Hi Makeup Magpie, I think the idea of basing nail colors off eyeshadow colors is quite fun! I think I like Toasted and Sidecare here :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Dovey, I thought it was a pretty fun idea too! Toasted is a nice neutral. Sidecar looks pretty with a very shiny topcoat! :)
Deleteahhh these are so pretty... I do not have any of the naked palettes, but I might splurge on naked polishes :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lucy, I thought it was a nice set and that $26 wasn't overly expensive, but I have read some negative reviews in which people have not been happy with the small size. It works OK for me as I find it hard to use up polish because I like to switch colors often! :)
DeleteI've been eyeing this set at Sephora and seeing this just makes me want it more. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate, At first I wasn't going to get it, but I like all of the colors! And nail polish is my weakness! :)
DeleteVery pretty :)
ReplyDeleteHi PDXBEAUTIFUL, I really like them and I'm hoping they are permanent shades :) It would be great if they made them in larger sizes as well :)
DeleteIt is very cool that they match their shadow counterparts. I actually like the colors on nails better, I think!
ReplyDeleteHi Larie, I thought it was a pretty cool concept. Naked and Sidecar match the shadows best, but the others are very close :) I think Smog & Hustle look prettier in person than in these photos!
DeleteSuch a fun idea...I really like Naked and Sidecar in particular! And even though $26 is a great price for 6 polishes, I think I will try to resist this one! We'll see how long that lasts though....How is the lasting power of these, in terms of chipping?

Hi Julie, I have only worn them for about 24 hours so far, so can't really tell yet, but I haven't had any chips - just a little minor tip wear. :)
DeleteI didn't know that Urban Decay is releasing a polish set from the Naked line. It's a cool and smart marketing concept and it is similar to how NARS did it with the Orgasm line.
ReplyDeleteOut of the five, I like Naked and Sidecar. I don't know if I'm going to get this set or not but they are really tempting!
Hi Paige, Sephora had offered them first to VIB customers, but now they are in stores. I would like to see some more sets like this in the future :)
DeleteVery smart of Urban Decay to do. Bet the polishes are just as popular. They certainly look just as pretty.
ReplyDeleteGirlie Blog Seattle | Casual Clothes for Less
Hi GirlieBlogger, Yes they are definitely building on their very popular NAKED line -- I wonder if lipsticks/glosses might be next? :)
DeleteI wish Smog were a little less warm -- I think that's the least accurate one. It looks more like Roach from the permanent UD line. I loooooove the neutrals though -- they're gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi The Procrastinator, I didn't have very good light available for photography yesterday and I think Smog may look a bit warmer in my swatches than it does in person. It is a copper brown, but seems to have a touch of plum in it as well. Worth checking out in person if you have the chance :)
Deletethat's such a beautiful color palette painted on your nails :) happy holidays to you btw!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenni, Thank you! :) I think my favorite shade right now is Hustle, but that might change when spring arrives. Best wishes for the New Year!
DeleteI just ordered this set on www.sephora.com Thanks a bunch for the on-the-nail swatches. For me, that sealed the deal. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kacey, Hope you like your new polishes! :) I'm waiting for my set to arrive so I can try on Creep!
DeleteI was curious about the nail colors, thanks for the swatches! Love the palette, now the polishes too! It is a go for me:)
ReplyDeleteHi Rola, I got the palette a long time ago and only recently started using the it -- I don't know what took me so long! :) I would like to see even more NAKED nail shades in the future. :)
DeleteOMG they are clearly appealing to the OCD-ridden beauty bloggers, that's what. Suddenly it's really tempting to collect every NAKED everything! ;o
ReplyDeleteThat aside, the shades are actually really classy and lovely!
Hi Liz, You're so right! In my review I almost wrote about it appealing to the obsessive in me :P Now the only Naked item I don't have is the Naked Basics palette, but for some reason I haven't been tempted by it -- I guess I'm just more of a shimmer fan! :)
DeleteWhat a clever concept, if it was pretty much any other brand I'd be totally put off by the blatant "its NAKED so you NEED it" approach but their products are such great quality it would be hard to hate them for capitilising on it!!! I got the Naked Basics for Christmas and it is set to become my go to palette for day to day in 2013 I think! Happy New Year and all the best for 2013. x
ReplyDeleteHi ihavemostlybeen, I have heard great things about the Basics palette and I think Urban Decay was a bit lacking in the mattes department, so it is a great addition! I love to wear shimmers and mattes together and may end up getting it to use together with my other palettes :) Best wishes to you for the New Year! xx
DeleteIt´s something similar to NARS and its Orgasm products. Anyway I think these polishes look gorgeous, so I think I have to buy them. More naked products on my bathroom stash!

Hi Lou, I couldn't resist them -- even though I do not need any more nail polish! :)
Deletelove the polishes on you..you have perfect nails and look at those cuticles!I think a manicure tutorial is in order;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comment LRW! Hope your year is off to a great start! :)
DeleteOh gosh - which do I like best!? You make me want to have short nails! Love how they look on you.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I cut all my nails down when one broke recently. They never seem to grow past a certain length! Right now my favorite shade is Hustle but when spring arrives I'll probably get more use out of the lighter shades. :)
DeleteOMG!!! these nail colors are all so gorgeous! they really make me drool. I find them all elegant and classy which is perfect for any occasion.
ReplyDeleteHi Maria, They're all pretty! Only wish they came in a larger size -- the bottles are tiny! :)
DeleteFirst, thanks for the mention but more importantly how great are these colors? And have you seen that UD came out with a naked BB Cream too? I haven't tried it yet but only because I haven't found it locally. UD is seriously hurting my bank account with all these Naked offshoots.
ReplyDeleteHi Jess, They are really great - hope they do more in the future! I haven't seen the BB cream yet - will look for it this weekend! UD has been receiving a lot of my paycheck lately. My poor wallet! ;)
DeleteDoes anyone know of a dupe for the first one, the neutral "Naked" shade? I only want that one because it's a perfect nude for my nail bed when I swatched it in the store. Please let me know if you know of a dupe!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ria, I'm sorry I don't know of an exact dupe. It's such a pretty neutral -- if I can find one I will do an update! :)
