Here's a simple look I wore yesterday. I wanted to test out my new Clinique Chubby Stick in Bountiful Beige as an eye shadow base and tried it here underneath Dolce & Gabbana's Fortune duo, which contains a dark plum satin and a white-gold shimmer. I used Bobbi Brown's Black Plum as a liner on the top lash line and MAC's Heirloom pencil on the lower lash line.
I love the look of warm and cool tones together and like to play around with different combinations. Here the contrast of the warm pale gold shadow with the cool silvery-lavender liner helps to add interest to a look that might otherwise be a bit dull and one-dimensional.
On cheeks I used a current favorite, Burberry's Peony--a perfect spring-time pink, and on lips I used Dolce & Gabbana's Baby Darling, a soft peachy pink with subtle shimmer.

In the arm swatches I applied the Fortune Duo over Bountiful Beige Chubby Stick, which made the plum shade appear shimmery; however, when used on its own it does not have any shimmer.

The Chubby Stick did a nice job of deepening the plum and brightening up the pale gold from the Fortune duo. Bountiful Beige is a versatile, neutral champagne color that is well suited for use as a base, but is also a great all-over lid color. Lately I've been swiping it on in the mornings before work, when I don't have time to do a more elaborate eye look.

beautiful! the purple tone of the shadow really complements your eyes!
ReplyDeleteHi Steph, Thank you for the kind comment :) I am a big fan of purple and it is my second most-used color, next to brown!
DeleteAmazing look! I especially love the eyes, the eye shadows suit your eye colour perfectly well! The Clinique Chubby sticks for eyes look so fun and good, I hope they get released her soon as well! ^^ The lipstick has such a pretty finish, really looking lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Teri, Thanks so much! I really like the convenience of the Chubby Stick! I only have this one shade so far but look forward to trying more in the future :)
DeleteI have yet to try anything from D&G and the swatches look lovely. I'm waiting for those chubby sticks to be released here. Probably in a few months time. This is a lovely look!
ReplyDeleteHi Lily, Thank you! :) I find that D&G products can be a bit hit or miss but overall I like most of what I've tried and it is definitely one of my favorite brands :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous look! I've yet to try the Clinique eye tints but they seem really simple and lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Larie, Thanks! :) I may pick up some more colors of the Clinique Chubby Sticks - they are so easy to use. They remind me a lot of the round side of the Cover Girl smoky shadow sticks. :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful look! I can't wait to try out the Chubby sticks too.
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline, thank you! :) I'm getting a lot of use out of the Bountiful Beige shade - it's very basic but coordinates well with so many other colors. :)
DeleteYou look stunning! I love how you have paired the colours together x
ReplyDeleteHi Replica, thanks very much! :) I was surprised at how much I ended up liking the MAC Heirloom liner. I've had it for a while and this was my first time using it x
DeleteYou look beautiful, and this is a lovely makeup look.
ReplyDeleteHi Iris, thanks so much for the kind words :) Now that spring is almost here I've been enjoying using lighter shades like lavender and peachy-pinks :)
DeleteYou look very beautiful! I love your eye look very much, it suits your skin tone :)
ReplyDeleteI just got my first D&G product and I must use it soon hehe.

Hi Meryl, Thank you!! :) What did you get from D&G? :)
DeleteI wish I had a counter in my neighborhood - it's not always easy to find reviews and swatches of D&G items.
I love the way you do your makeup. You always looks so softly pretty and refined.
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie, Thanks so much for the kind comment :) I feel like I tend to stick to the same products and application techniques and should experiment a bit more. I'd like to get more creative with my eyeshadow color combinations in the future :)
DeleteGorgeous as usual! You really know how to pick the most flattering colours. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, Aw thanks - I try to pick flattering colors, although I'm not always successful! But when that happens I just take it off and try something else : )
DeleteHi Shannon,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful look--- I love how I can appreciate the little sparkles in your FOTD look! I enjoy reading about D&G since it's something I don't see too often--- Fortune looks like a great duo!
Hi Dovey, Thanks so much! :) D&G was one of my early favorite brands when I first started this blog :) I wish I had a counter near me, but usually have to rely on reviews and swatches I find online...
DeleteAh you are so gorgeous, Shannon! This is such a dainty, truly pretty look but you make it seem so effortless! I love how the BB Black Plum liner looks when paired with the D&G duo! I still haven't tried anything from the brand but I really want to try their shadow duos and blushes!!
ReplyDeleteHi Becca, aw thank you so much - you are sweet :) I wish D&G was more accessible - it seems there aren't that many counters available for people to visit and try on the products before buying. I've heard they have a great cream foundation!
DeleteI love how you put the warm and cool colors together. Instead of clashing each other, the makeup look looks very well put and harmonious. It's nice to see a Clinique product being featured here. The brand doesn't get much love in beauty blogs.
ReplyDeleteHi Paige, thank you! I've been buying from Clinique for many years -- I used to do their 3-step skincare system when I was in my teens & twenties. I'm glad they are still around and it seems their lip & eye Chubby Sticks are selling well :)
