MAC Shape the Future Extra Dimension Skinfinish

Despite my initial thoughts that I did not need anything from MAC's Spring/Summer Extra Dimension collection, I quickly fell in love with the lighter half of the Shape the Future Skinfinish ($30, limited edition) last weekend, so it ended up coming home with me. I wore it for the first time today and thought I would share a few photos in case you're still on the fence about this item.

At first I was unsure whether this would be flattering, as brick or rust tones often don't work well on me (like, for example, MAC's Margin blush--beautiful in the pan--not so much on my face). I figured I would be safe purchasing this, though, because applying more of the beautiful pale iridescent peach shade would offset any potential ruddy tones from the darker shade.

After using it today, I found that the darker half is easily wearable when applied with a light hand. It is a well-pigmented terracotta shade with a soft sheen that lights up the skin. I love that this product combines a highlighter and blush in one convenient package.

Shape the Future complements warmer looks particularly well. I plan to pair it with light peachy lip colors, along with gold, amber, bronze and copper eye looks. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Shape the Future and would recommend it to those who enjoy wearing warm-toned blushes.

  1. Hi Shannon,

I wouldn't have thought to pick Shape the Future judging from how dark the bottom half is, however it looks very pretty on you! The warm glow looks nice and summery :)

    1. Hi Dovey,
Thank so much! I also thought it might be too dark, but it actually swatches a bit lighter and brighter (more on the orange side) than it looks in the pan :)

    1. Hi Teri, aw, thank you! :) I have to be careful not to apply too much of the darker side but it does blend out to a nice, wearable color :)

    1. Hi Liz-thanks very much my friend! This skinfinish does a good job of making me look less pale & the sheen is noticeable without being too shimmery :)

  6. This is soooo gorgeous on you--super glowy and warm and beautiful! I've always been curious about these types of new age cream-powder hybrids but so many of them are super metallic looking, I've been too scared to purchase as I know they would emphasize my super-large pores :/

    1. Hi Becca, Thanks so much for the kind words! :)
I also have to be careful with shiny highlighting products - I try to keep them away from the center of my face which has larger pores. These are definitely shimmery, but I like the smooth texture and that there is no microglitter fallout :)
