Overview of Chanel Holiday 2013 - Nuit Infinie de Chanel

It's hard to believe that holiday merchandise is already on display and the year is almost over. Each year seems to go by more quickly than the last. But I'm not complaining--this time of year is always fun for any makeup lover and the temptations are plentiful!

I picked up a few items today from Chanel's holiday collection Nuit Infinie de Chanel. Included are two new, gorgeous Illusion D'Ombres ($36 limited edition): #827 Initiation a sparkly, mid-tone neutral bronze and #837 Fatal a shimmery, mid-tone silvered-plum. I am a fan of Illusion D'Ombres and felt I couldn't pass these two up, as they are the type of neutral shades that I love to wear on a daily basis, but with an extra added sparkle that will make them great for special occasions as well. Initiation seems to be the more sparkly of the two. More thoughts and photos to come, once I've had a chance to play around with them!

I also purchased Indécise, one of the new Rouge Allure Luminous Intense lipsticks introduced recently in this Fall's Rouge Allure Moiré collection. I was told this shade is being re-promoted as part of the holiday collection. A few of the other items, including the star of the collection, the Ombres Matelassées Eye Shadow Palette in Charming, had not arrived yet.

Below are my quick in-store swatches of just a few items. I'm sorry they don't do these shadows justice but I thought I'd share them anyway in case they are helpful. I loved the look of the liquid liner in Bronze but decided I did not need it (although I sure do want it!). I also have my eye on the limited edition polish, Rouge Rubis, and may go back for it at some point. I was in a rush and didn't have a chance to try it on today, but judging by the bottle it looks like a beautiful, classic bright red.

Below is a list of all of the items included in this collection:

  • Joues Contraste Powder Blush Accent - pink beige
  • Poudre Universelle Libre (Natural Loose Finish Powder) Moon Light - peach beige
  • Perfection Lumiere Foundation #30 Beige - sandy beige (re-promote)
  • Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadows: Initiation - platinum bronze, Fatal - silver purple
  • Mascara Gel Irisé Sparkling Top Coat - Platinum Bronze
  • Liquid Graphique Eyeliner - Bronze
  • Inimitable Intense Mascara - Noir
  • Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour: Radieuse - blue pink, Indécise - shimmering pink beige (re-promote), Farouche - shimmering chocolate brown (re-promote)
  • Rouge Allure Velvet: La Précieuse - vivid red, La Désirée - burgundy red

What do you think of the collection overall? Do you have anything on your wishlist?

  2. Hi Dovey, I was excited to see the display in Nordstrom earlier today! Chanel is always my favorite when it comes to holiday collections. I am also really looking forward to seeing the Charming palette! It sure looks great in the promo photos I've seen :)

  3. Eeee can't believe it's already available there! We have another month to wait here and I'd so love to lay my greedy hands on everything ASAP! Great picks! Definitely eyeing those Ilusion d'Ombres as well! Indecise is a bit too pale for my skin tone, but I bet it'll look great on ya ;)

    1. Hi Sunny, I know - it seems early for holiday, right? But I guess I think that every year around this time! I saw some cute Too Faced holiday sets yesterday as well and Lancome's holiday nail polish and shadows. Too many temptations! I haven't tried the Illusion D'Ombres out on my eyes yet, but the colors look very wearable and pretty :)

  4. I only have one Illusion D’Ombre and it's in Illusoire. I really like it and have been wanting to get Ebloui but Fatal looks more wearable. Will have to wait for it to launch here in November :-)

    1. Hi Lily, I like Illusoire :) I think Fatal has more brown tones in it, and might be more sparkly. I'm going to try to do a comparison post soon :)

  5. Judging by everything I've seen around the web lately, this holiday season looks like it's making to be a budget-breaker for sure! I don't even know where to begin, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing swatches of Charming. Then it's down to figuring out what I want to add to my collection BEFORE it all sells out, lol. :)

    1. Hi Rach, Yes, definitely budget-breaking! I'd better strengthen my willpower... The one collection I usually love at holidays is Guerlain but I plan to skip that one this year, so that will help a bit. I can't wait to see Charming! :)

    2. I will endeavour to strengthen my willpower as well. I *think* I'm safe from this year's Guerlain, but it's the meteorites that will get me, if anything does. :D

  6. Hi. New follower here. Sabrina from the Beauty Look Book recommended you so I checked out you blog. Love the quality of your photos and posts!

Wow, I can't believe the holiday collection is out already but I'm liking what I'm seeing here. Thanks for sharing some swatches and photos of the collection. Both Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadows are lovely. I'm also eyeing the Joues Contraste Powder Blush Accent.

    1. Welcome and thanks for the kind comment! :) That was so sweet of Sabrina to give me a shout out - she's great. I wish I had taken photos of the JC blush. I swatched it quickly and it is somewhat sheer, but looks like it will be very flattering and natural looking on many skin tones.

  7. Holiday is already out there? I was asking yesterday at the Chanel counter here in Germany and they said it should be here in a month :-p
Could you try the blush? Is it very shimmery? What about the sparkling top coat, it must be an interesting addition to any stash ;-) thanks so much for the review.

    1. Hi Sara, Oh wow, didn't know you were in Germany! :) I could not believe that holiday collections were already out here - I saw Chanel, Lancome, and Too-Faced holiday items on the display yesterday. I swatched the blush very quickly and from what I remember it seems to be a sheer matte, with fine sparkles. I did not have a chance to try out the sparkling top coat as I was short on time that day - wish I could have stayed longer to test everything!

    1. Hi Liz, Thank you! :) I can't wait to see the shadow palette (not that I can afford it anyway right now, but maybe a month from now if it is in stock). The blush looked sheer when I swatched it on my arm -- I have heard good things about it from others and need to try it on to see how it really looks -- swatches can be so deceiving!
