Have you ever regretted not making a beauty purchase? Usually it's the opposite case for me, but this is what happened to me recently when I decided I wanted a particular polish from Bobbi Brown's recent collection, Nectar & Nude. This is a lovely, well-edited springtime collection with flattering coral shades and neutrals for eyes--just my style. All of the items have been on counters for months and I remember giving them a look, but had quickly convinced myself that I already had similar colors and could safely pass on everything.
Then, as often happens, time went by and my resistance weakened. I thought, why not go back for that pretty glitter topcoat and coral polish? So last week I picked up the sheer glitter, Bare Peach, but the coral shade, Nectar, was sold out at Macy's. So I walked over to Nordstrom, but had no luck there either.
Days passed, and I began picturing how pretty Nectar would look with that coordinating glitter topcoat. As I began looking at swatches and reading reviews on the web, I became more and more convinced: perhaps Nectar is special and unlike any of the countless other corals I already own. Now that it had become unattainable to me, this coral polish that had at first not garnered a second glance, transformed in my mind into the perfect coral!
I was on a mission: I inquired with Bobbi Brown customer service and all of the local department stores. I scoured every web retailer I could think of, but found it was sold out everywhere! (well, except for that one overpriced bottle on eBay, which I just can't bring myself to purchase).
Alas, I have resigned myself to the fact that Nectar and I just aren't meant to be. So, as a consolation, I bought myself a similar coral--Essie's Chubby Cheeks--a shade that was introduced back in the summer of 2009 but is still widely available. It's no Nectar, but it'll do!
Thanks for stopping by!
