Shopping: Sephora VIB Rouge Sale

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing great--it's been a while! I'm a bit late with this post, but I always enjoy seeing what other people have picked up during Sephora's sales so thought I would share the items I chose during this year's VIB Rouge sale, which ran from November 6-10.

Initially I had intended to get only Guerlain's Petrouchka holiday palette, as I always love Guerlain's holiday palettes and have collected them for the last three years. But my resolve quickly weakened and after much time spent browsing the Sephora website, I ended up ordering some other products that have been on my wishlist for a long time, such as Hourglass's Ambient Lighting Palette and Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. I've also wanted a Guerlain Meteorites brush for a year or so--even though it has had mixed reviews I felt like it would be a nice complement to the powder and it just matches the pretty Meteorites tin so well--I couldn't resist!

Unlike in years past, this year I did all of my shopping online so that I could take advantage of my Ebates discount. I spent way more than I should have, but the allure of 20% off gets me every time! Ah well, I have promised myself that I will make up for it by being more frugal in the new year (spoken like a true makeup addict!).

1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
2. Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo - Nude No. 1 (plan to use this to lighten darker lip colors)
3. Hourglass Ambient Powder Brush
4. Hourglass Foundation/Blush Brush No. 2
5. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette

6. Guerlain Holiday 2014 Nail Lacquer - Coque D'Or (pretty shade of gold for the holidays)
7. Guerlain Meteorites - Dore 04 (makes a lovely, natural-looking, sheer blush shade)
8. Guerlain Holiday 2014 Petrouchka Eye & Cheek Palette
9. Guerlain Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder - Blondes 02
10. Guerlain Meteorites Brush

11. Josie Maran Bear Naked Facial Wipes (basic wipe that doesn't make my face burn like some do)
12. Bare Minerals - The Magic Act Palette (great selection of neutral shadows and blush shades)
13. Lancome Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara (have wanted to try this for a while)
14. Urban Decay - Urban Obsessions set (Sephora 500-point reward item)

  1. Ooooh, good picks! Love the Hourglass palettes - I got the blush palette on sale as well. I keep meaning to get into Guerlain but something holds me back. Maybe I'll take a page out of your book and finally make a breakthrough this season. :)

    1. Hi Liz, Thanks! :) I am glad I waited to get the Hourglass palettes on sale. I love the three blush shades they included. I think Guerlain can be an old-fashioned brand, but something about it appeals to me - maybe its origin as a perfume house in Paris, back in 1828 - brings out my inner French-girl haha. The Meteorites are a bit of a hyped up product, but they are definitely fun to use and nice to keep out on display.

  2. My vib rouge sale order finally arrived yesterday... It seems Sephora was overwhelmed this year, as they added 500 bonus points to my account for the delay :)

You have some great choices; now I wish I took some time out and browsed Guerlain a bit more. I've always wanted to try their shadows, and that palette looks beautiful... hahaha.... maybe next year

    1. Hi Lucy, Aw, sorry to hear about the delay, but it is nice to have the 500 bonus points! I don't normally shop for Guerlain at Sephora but was happy to see that they had some of the 2014 holiday collection in stock and I had been thinking about the Meteorites for a long time -- they are one of those luxury items that are difficult to justify at full price, but the sale was just the excuse I needed! Hope you are enjoying the items you ordered! :)

  3. That's a lot of goodies! I have the Hourglass foundation brush. It's not the best for reaching those hard-to-reach corners, but it works super fast! I keep meaning to try it as a blush/powder brush and keep forgetting about it! I've got to do that ASAP :) I hope you like your Petrouchka palette! The eyeshadows aren't exactly new (some repeats from the previous years), but the blushes are great!

    1. Hi Sunny, I went a little overboard with the sale this year :) Hopefully the brush will work well with the blush palette - I think I'll probably use it mostly for powder products. The Petrouchka palette is so pretty and I love the blush shades -- only wish the pans were a bit larger :)

  4. Oh, I love your picks, Shannon! Such glamour. I want to try a finishing powder, and was thinking about Guerlain's Meteorites, but I read that the new Meteorites are far more powdery than the old version, so I'm not sure. Also, I can see myself dropping the canister on the floor, haha. I know they have a pressed version, but it doesn't have the same glittering appeal to me!

    1. Hi Larie, Thank you! I never had a chance to try the older version and I have heard the same - the new ones are pretty powdery - a little puff of violet-scented powder comes out of the tin every time I open it. I think there is also a lot less product included than the older version, which is a little disappointing. I ended up with the darkest shade Dore 04 because the medium shade sold out, but I really like using it as a blush :)

    1. Hi Dovey, Thank you! :) I went a little crazy with the Guerlain and Hourglass products this year lol - but scratched off a few items that have been on my wish list for a long time! :)

  6. Some lovely picks there, I was very tempted by Petrouchka but think the shadows would have been too warm on me x

    1. Hi Clare, Thank you! :) Yes, the Petrouchka palette is quite warm - I was unsure about getting it when I first saw it at Saks, but when I found it on Sephora's website it was the first thing on my VIB Rouge sale wishlist! :) The only thing I don't really love about it is the tiny blush pans - because there is so little space to work with in this palette, I think I may have preferred to have just one really nice blush shade. :)

  7. Amazing picks ;) I meant to pick up the Hourglass palettes, but I had spent enough money for one week haha! I guess I'll just add them to my christmas wishlist at this point!
